The American Society of Interior Designers and its members applaud the State of Massachusetts and Gov. Deval Patrick (D) on signing a proclamation declaring June 23, 2010 “Interior Design Day”.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for interior designers in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to come together and celebrate, educate and showcase the profession of interior design,” said ASID Legislative and Codes Advisory Council Co-Chair, Dr. Rose Botti-Salitsky, ASID.

The Massachusetts Interior Design Coalition (MIDC), American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and International Interior Design Association (IIDA) will gather students, professional interior designers, industry partners and friends on Interior Design Day at the state house to show legislators that they will continue to support the profession and its legislative efforts.

“It is anticipated that the diversity of participation will help draw attention to the importance of interior design legislative efforts,” Botti-Salitsky noted.

House Bill 2999, a bill that will allow interior designers that qualify to bid on state contracts as an independent design professional, was favorably reported out of the House Ways and Means committee last week. If successfully passed, HB 2999 will open up opportunities for both designers and the public.
